Spring into "RV Season"!

For those of you who can't wait to hit the road, it's time to start taking your RV out of hibernation. But as we all know, spring in Colorado can be a toss-up. One day you could be savoring a cold craft ale by a mountain stream, and the next you could be blasting the heat -- sipping hot toddies and watching that old copy of National Lampoon's Vacation you forgot you had in the RV. Regardless, with a little planning, RVing in the spring is definitely doable, and this is where you should go!

1. Fort Collins/Poudre Canyon KOA -- Fort Collins

spring While not deep in the mountains, the Fort Collins KOA features hookups, Wi-Fi, and cable TV, and it's a great place to make base -- especially if you have a vehicle you can take into town or you're visiting somebody at CSU. From here you can be right in the heart of downtown Fort Collins in 18 minutes, or head west for all the mountain adventure you can handle.

2. Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Resort -- Mancos

spring The easy-to-get-to Ancient Cedars Mesa Verde RV Resort in Mancos opens for the season on March 22 and is the perfect place to stay if you're looking to make your way into Mesa Verde National Park. Features include stunning views of the natural surroundings as well as hot tubs, laundry, a dog park, a playground, and -- above all else -- an 18-hole miniature golf course! Reservations are recommended!

3. Marshall Ash Village RV Park -- Stratton

spring If you're headed east, don't hesitate to make a stop at the Marshall Ash Village RV Park in Stratton, CO. It's not much in the way of amenities, but it's just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the Claremont Inn -- an upscale winery featuring accommodation and food that's top-notch. Check it out!

4. I Love Lucy's Place -- La Veta

spring On your way to the Sand Dunes but need a stop that's a little more town than country? Stop at I Love Lucy's in La Veta, CO. It features hook-ups, Wi-Fi, and a sense of community. It's family-owned and -operated, too, and people can't say enough good things about it!

5. Pleasant Valley RV Park -- Howard

With stunning views of the collegiate peaks, the Pleasant Valley RV Park sits right along the Arkansas River and makes for a perfect weekend getaway. If you do have the desire to go into town, Salida is just a 23-minute drive away and offers a thriving bar/restaurant scene. What are your thoughts?
