AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Several organizations in the area are hosting Veteran’s Day events on Monday.
Amtech Career Academy
Amtech Career Academy is offering a free biscuits and gravy breakfast along with coffee for all veterans and active military. The breakfast will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Amtech Career Academy Banquet Room, located at 3601 Plains Boulevard. Participants must bring an ID. Central Baptist Church
Central Baptist Church presents “A Salute to Our Veterans” which is a special service to honor those who have served and continue to serve. The service features a keynote address by retired Command Sergeant Major Archi L. Davis Jr. starting at 7 p.m. The church is located at 1601 SW 58th Ave. All veterans in attendance will receive gift bags and the opportunity to win grand prizes. Texas Panhandle War Memorial
The Texas Panhandle War Memorial will host its annual Veteran’s Day ceremony starting at 11 a.m. at the War Memorial located at 4111 S. Georgia. The ceremony will include an invocation, presentation of colors, pledge of allegiance, national anthem performed by Ascension Academy Choir, flyover by the Panhandle Warbird Flight, salute to the services and more. The event will also feature guest speaker, Sgt Major Billy R. Garcia. West Texas A&M University and City of Canyon
West Texas A&M University along with the City of Canyon is hosting a special Veteran’s Day ceremony. The ceremony will take place at the Veteran‘s Memorial on WT’s campus starting at 11 a.m. Festivities include remarks from Navy Officer Lt. Corey Todd Jones, a flyover from the 7th Bomb Wing at Dyess Air Force Base, performances by Canyon High School Choir and Tascosa Junior High ROTC, a wreath-laying ceremony, free hot dogs and buffalo cookies.
