District attorney will seek the death penalty for Atlanta Spa Shootings.

The Georgia prosecution for Robert Aaron Long (22) of the alleged spa murders for four Asian women: Soon Chung Park (74), Suncha Kim (69), Yong Ae Yue (63), and Hyun Jung Grant (51), also filed the murders as hate crimes. Hate crimes carry an additional penalty and sentence. The District Attorney will be seeking the death penalty for Long, as reported by The New York Times

On March 16, Long went on a deadly spa shooting spree, killing a total of 8 people. His motive for being racially motivated was in question at the time. Six of the eight victims were Asian. In a court filing, the prosecutor Fani Willis said, "Long had targeted for women in Atlanta because of their race, national original and gender." Willis also filed separately that she would see the death penalty against Long.

The Asian community has come together through Stop AAPI Hate as numerous racially motivated hate crimes have been shared through social and mainstream media in just these last few months.
