Baltimore police said it is investigating two crimes that happened just moments and blocks apart Tuesday night.

Police were called to the 500 block of South Linwood Avenue around 9:24 p.m., just across the street from Patterson Park, for an armed robbery. Police said a 59-year-old man and woman were approached by three juveniles, one of which displayed a handgun in his waistband.

The man and woman told police they were robbed of their personal belongings before the three juveniles ran off.

"I had just parked my car down the street right here, and I was walking up, and (my neighbor) was on the phone with the cops. It had literally just happened. I just missed it," said Sandy Maldonado, a neighbor of one of the victims. "(My neighbor) told me that they took her purse, and they had approached him to ask for cash. I think, as he was talking to them, (the juveniles) took her purse and then fled."

"The first incident happened on the 500 block of S. Linwood and it was three individuals," said Arch McKown, the Patterson Park Neighborhood Association safety chair and a member of the Community Relations Council for Southeast District BPD. "After they robbed the two victims on the 500 block, they ran a block north to flee, and that's where they did the carjacking, and they pulled the guy out of the car, and once again were armed with handguns."

Police confirmed there was an armed carjacking around 9:30 p.m. in the 2900 block of Eastern Avenue. They said a 34-year-old man was parked in his car when he was approached by three juveniles. Investigators said one of the juveniles pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim's car, a 2017 Gray Honda Accord.

Baltimore Police have not said whether or not the three juveniles in the robbery are the same three juveniles in the carjacking. However, McKown said he believes the two are connected, based on the juveniles' descriptions.

"I think, with a high degree of certainty, it was the same three teens," McKown said. "These kids do match the description from some other incidents in the past, in the near past, so BPD is looking into that to see if they're connected."

BPD said no injuries were reported in either incident.

While McKown believes the two incidents are connected, BPD did not connect them. So far, no arrests have been made.
