A late basket by Tyler Wolbeck gave the Osakis boys basketball team a 63-61 win on the road over the Minnewaska Lakers on Thursday in Glenwood.

“The guys continue to amaze me as we’ve had a lot of games with very little practice,” Osakis head coach Matt Hoelscher said. “Overall it was a pretty sloppy game for us as we struggled rebounding at times, we got caught in back defensive matchups, and we were stagnant offensively. We had some foul trouble in the first half, and we settled for shots when we were tired instead of being aggressive. We did a better job the second half of limiting Minnewaska to one shot and Seth [Staloch] ate up the boards once again which was crucial in getting the win.”

Seth Staloch had a double-double, 10 points and 18 rebounds on Thursday. Andrew Jones led Osakis’ offense in scoring with 18 points.

Tenzin Dahl led Minnewaska’s offense with 21 points, while Kaiden Harvey nearly had a double-double, nine points and 10 rebounds.

“We knew it was going to be a 36-minute battle,” Minnewaska head coach Zach Traphagen said. “We had opportunities to stretch our leads in the second half to double digits but weren’t able to convert some makeable shots. Credit to Osakis for finding a way to win.”

Osakis (14-8) plays at Upsala (17-5) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, while Minnewaska (11-13) plays at BOLD (15-9) at 7:15 p.m.
