BOSSIER CITY, La. - It was a day Luke Miller had dreamt of since he was a young boy: being appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy.

The Benton High School student was recognized on Thursday for his accomplishments, including his appointment to the academy.

As a special treat, a member of the U.S. Air Force Academy Band, Wild Blue Country, was on hand to congratulate Miller and welcome him to the academy.

According to Miller's family, he also received an appointment to the Naval Academy, as well as full scholarships to LSU and Texas A&M.

In total, he received over $1.2 million in scholarship offers, but in the end, Miller's mom says he has always wanted to be an Air Force Pilot.

Miller plans to attend the academy this summer.
