Rocky Mountain National Park

We couldn't leave Rocky Mountain National Park off of this list. Forests, mountains, lakes—RMNP has it all! You won't have any trouble finding a campground. Spend a few days in the tranquility of nature and return to reality refreshed. The Rocky Mountains await. (Just be courteous of the nature and wildlife around you.)

Garden of the Gods

The world-class Garden of the Gods is another can't-miss. Pikes Peak is in the background, and red rock formations are all around you. What a place to be! Enjoy the atmosphere at dawn and dusk, as Garden of the Gods provides an overnight RV resort. This is one of the most unique landmarks that Colorado has to offer. Spend some good time admiring what people travel across the country to camp and see here.

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park

Get ready to be awestruck! The dramatic views are intimidating, and you'll feel the energy of a world-class attraction. The sheer, black walls of the canyon plunge into shadowy depths. South Rim Campground will give you a chance to peer into the canyon's abyss, and the star-studded night sky will tie everything together. 

Mesa Verde National Park

Spend a few nights amongst over 5,000 archeological sights and 600 cliff dwellings. Mesa Verde National Park's history gives insight into the lives of Ancestral Puebloans. Do some serious hiking during your time here, and enjoy the quiet canyon that harbors Morefield Campground. The number of historical sites makes this one of Colorado's best camping locations. Don't sleep on Mesa Verde.

Great Sand Dunes National Park

Colorado is also home to some of the tallest dunes in North America. There are immaculate views and sandboarding at Great Sand Dunes National Park! Sledding is also an option. These dunes provide so much fun. Another must-visit offered by the Centennial State. 

Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness

Last but definitely not least, Maroon Bells offers some of the most scenic sides of Colorado. Immerse yourself in utter beauty during the summer. This spot is perfect for photography but is also great for hiking and fishing. Due to the quantity of great Colorado camping, this location can go unnoticed. However, it would be a disservice to forget about Maroon Bells!
