GAINESVILLE — Highly coveted guard Boogie Fland will transfer to Florida as coach Todd Golden pushes to assemble another championship-winning backcourt, a source confirmed to the Orlando Sentinel. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Fland entered the NBA Draft after his freshman season at Arkansas, but withdrew from consideration Sunday and visited UF Monday and Tuesday. Fland joins Princeton transfer Xavian Lee and Ohio University’s AJ Brown as the third guard Golden signed this offseason out of the transfer portal. The approach helped deliver UF a national title-winning perimeter trio featuring All-American Walter Clayton Jr. , who arrived from Iona in 2023, Will Richard , who was Golden’s first transfer signing in 2022 from Belmont University, and Alijah Martin , who left FAU in 2024 for Gainesville after he’d helped the 2023 Owls reach the Final Four. Those three guards averaged 46 points, 12.8 rebounds, 7.8 assists and 4 steals last season, while also combining for 276 3-pointers. Lee, Brown and Fland combined for an average of 43.6 points, 12.5 rebounds, 11.7 assists and 4 steals while making 149 3s. Fland is a native of Bronx who signed with John Calipari at Arkansas as one of the nation’s top prospects. He ranked No. 22 overall and No. 3 among combo guards out of high school, according to 247Sports, while the service rated him No. 8 among transfers. Fland, Lee and Brown will join a backcourt with holdovers Urban Klavzar and Isaiah Brown , a former Orlando Christian Prep star who averaged 1.9 points and 3.7 minutes as a true freshman and is AJ Brown’s younger brother.
