But the main concert series at the University of Colorado's Macky Auditorium isn't the only thing the Boulder Phil's musicians are up to. Members of the orchestra participate in a variety of community and educational efforts, from holding free "Discovery Concerts" on the CU campus (especially for elementary school students), to appearing at multiple Colorado schools for on-site concerts throughout the school year. In addition, a sensory-friendly performance is held once a year especially for families living with autism and other disabilities. Overall, the orchestra has collaborated with 45 local organizations over the last several years to continue to bring the arts to the community and encourage the next generation of musicians -- in far-reaching ways.
