PHOENIX – Chandler was recently ranked as the hardest-working city in Arizona.

A study from WalletHub looked at 116 cities and analyzed them on two key components: direct and indirect work factors.

The East Valley city landed as the 20th-best city in the U.S. for hardest-working people, scoring 71.23 points out of 100.

Chandler was ranked 16th on the list when it came to direct work factors and 50th in indirect work factors.

How are Arizona cities ranked behind Chandler?



Scottsdale (22nd) and Gilbert (26th) weren’t far behind Chandler. Phoenix (35th), Glendale (63rd), Mesa (66th) and Tucson (96th) rounded out the Arizona representation on the list.

The study found Scottsdale was one of the top cities in direct workers, ranking 19th on the list.

Phoenix ranked 40th in direct workers and 43rd in indirect workers.

Tucson was ranked the lowest of the Arizona cities in indirect and direct workers, ranking 71st and 99th respectively.

Anchorage, Alaska, came out on top of the list of the hardest-working cities, scoring 80.15 points. Washington, D.C.; Irving, Texas; Dallas; and Cheyenne, Wyoming, rounded out the top five.

Burlington, Vermont was at the bottom of the rankings.

How were results determined in the study?



Researchers in the study took two categories, direct and indirect work factors, when calculating results. Each city was graded on a 100-point scale. One city from each of the 50 states was represented in the study.
