In its third year, the Women’s Voices Theater Festival in Washington, D.C., will highlight women in the arts, especially performing arts.
At the Women's Voices Theater Festival, you’ll be able to attend plays written and produced by women and see the reach of the professional theater scene within the city. With the one-year anniversary of the Women’s March and the many events of this past year that have begun to change the mindset of our society, this festival is incredibly pivotal in giving both voice and power to women. Many of the plays discuss the cultural shift happening in our country from a creative and unique perspective.
THE PLAYS:

here. Performances are happening in
participating theaters all over the city, so you’ll be able to experience different neighborhoods and what they have to offer in the arts. Most-anticipated plays include
Imogen at the Shakespeare Theater Company and
Queens Girl in Africa at the Mosaic Theater Company.

EVENTS:
In addition to the performances, the festival will feature several events. One event that’s making headlines is
The International Women’s Voices Day on January 21. The goal of this event is for “theater-makers around the globe to present public or private readings of unproduced works by women playwrights in celebration.” You can schedule either a private or public reading, and as long as you have a space and the permission of the playwright, you’re part of the program.
