CHICAGO - A Chicago man was charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting Sunday morning in the Chinatown neighborhood.

Terris Williams, 31, allegedly got into a fight with several people around 2 a.m. in the 400 block of West 24th Street, police said.

When the fight was over, Williams retrieved a handgun and shot a 35-year-old man in the buttocks, police said. He also tried to shoot at a 36-year-old man but missed, according to police.

Responding officers arrested Williams minutes after the shooting. He was charged with aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and first-degree attempted murder.

Williams has a detention hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
