As the end of the semester quickly approaches, let’s take a look at all of the Colgate University spring sports that are winding down and looking forward to their championships to see how our teams have fared over this season.

The Colgate men’s lacrosse team has had an impressive season so far, holding an 5-3 conference record, and are currently No. 23 in the nation’s rankings. In recent weeks, the team has won against the College of Holy Cross on April 20 and lost to Lehigh University on April 13 and Boston University on April 26. Looking toward the future, the team will be competing at the Patriot League Championship tournament and are currently seeded No. 5 . If they beat No. 4 Boston University on April 30, they will move into the semifinal round to take place on May 3. Despite the Raiders being seeded middle of the pack, this does not reflect the competitiveness of Patriot League men’s lacrosse this year. Colgate’s Patriot League record is tied with the United States Naval Academy (Navy), Boston University and Loyola University Maryland. The United States Military Academy at West Point (Army) and Lehigh each have 6-2 records in the Patriot League, so the playoffs are truly anyone’s game this year.

The Colgate women’s lacrosse team ended their season on April 28 after a Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal 9-14 loss to Holy Cross. This came after a dramatic win for the team back on April 20 to celebrate senior day. The Raiders took down the Lehigh Mountain Hawks, with senior Kyra Lucey scoring the game-winning goal with eight seconds left in the game. The team ended with a record of 3-14 . Lucey and junior Lucy Licata both grabbed spots on the Second Team All-Patriot League . Lucey was named to the Second Team last year, while this is Licata’s first post-season honors.

After losing to No. 3 seed Bucknell University in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament, the Colgate men s tennis team saw their season come to a close. The Raiders end with a record of 6-14 in overall play and 2-4 in conference play. There have been moments of brilliance throughout the season, such as senior Mike Thomas match-clinching singles victory against Loyola University on April 12 , but, overall, this will be a season that the team is looking to move on from. With three talented rookies joining the team next year, all eyes are on the future.

With their sixth-straight winning year season, the Colgate women s tennis ended the year with a strong 11-10 record. This impressive record, combined with a strong recruiting class coming in and the rest of the team returning for next year, proves that there is a lot to be optimistic about . The highlight of the Raiders season came on March 30, when they beat Bucknell by a team score of 4-3. It was a nail-biting match that marked the women s first victory over the Bison since 2017 .

It has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride for the members of the Colgate golf team, as they competed in the Patriot League Championship Tournament this past weekend. The Tournament ran from April 26 to 28. The team’s second-place finish puts them in the record books along with the 1991, 2001 and 2023 seasons as the best finish at the Patriot League Tournament in team history. This is also the first time that the team has finished back-to-back runner-up. Senior Dugan McCabe and junior Robbie Herzig both finished within the top 10 individually, coming in fourth and fifth, respectively.

The Colgate men’s and women’s track and field program’s outdoor season has led to many record-breaking performances as they head into the Patriot League Championship. In their most recent meet on April 20, both the men’s and women’s teams had multiple top-three finishes. The Raiders are currently preparing for the outdoor Patriot League Championships to take place on the weekend of May 3 and May 4.

As Colgate men’s rowing reaches the crux of their season, they have just come off a good performance at the SIRA Regatta . The varsity eight placed fourth and the varsity four placed seventh, after winning the B final. The Raiders and looking towards the Dad Vail Regatta on May 10 and then the IRA National Championship, which will take place on May 31.

The Colgate women’s rowing team is coming off of a good performance at the New York State Championships in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The varsity four boat won gold and the varsity eight placed third in a stellar performance. The team is now training for the Eastern Sprints to take place on May 5 and looking forward to the Patriot League Championships on May 17. The Raiders are looking to improve on their back-to-back seventh-place performances at the Patriot League Championships. The Raiders scored fourth in the Patriot League back in 2021, so the team has reason to be hopeful.

The Colgate softball team is entering the end of their season with a 21-25 overall record and a 7-8 conference record. The team is heating up when it matters, coming off of three straight wins recently. They have a game against the University at Albany (UAlbany) on May 1 and their last tournament weekend against Army on May 4 and May 5, which will also be their last competition until the Patriot League Tournament begins on May 9 . The Raiders currently sit at No. 5 in the Patriot League standings, but are certainly in the conversation to make a deep run come playoff time.
