Just a month after listing another of his South Florida properties, local businessman David Wallack, the founder of South Beach’s premier salsa nightclub Mango’s Tropical Café , has brought to market a $20.9 million estate in Miami ‘s historic Morningside neighborhood just north of the Design District.

Whispering Pines, as the bayside spread is called, comprises a 5,400-square-foot abode featuring custom copper artwork on both the exterior and interior and lush tropical gardens valued at $1 million. Jill Eber of the Jills Zeder Group at Coldwell Banker Realty holds the four-bedroom, three-bath listing . “Whispering Pines is magical and stands apart with its flexibility and development potential,” Eber said in a statement. “This property holds immense appeal, blending exquisite natural beauty and redevelopment potential into one truly rare offering.”

Wallack commissioned the artist Kim Brandell to create the sculpted copper artwork that runs like a frieze across the top of the home and also appears throughout the home’s interior and exterior spaces. Beyond the elaborate, palm-tree-adorned copper gates, you’ll pass a meditation garden, koi pond, and waterfall before arriving at the main residence. Mirroring the materials used outside, the formal living room sports inlaid marble floors, glossy wood paneling, and a wood-burning fireplace framed by coral stone. The kitchen is anchored by a granite island, and the dining room is surrounded by mahogany sliding-glass doors that open to the pool deck. Elsewhere are a casual den and a sound-controlled music studio.

A Brazilian cherry-wood floor with custom stone insets is found in the primary suite, where the bed sits opposite a freestanding copper fireplace. The accompanying bathroom has dual sinks and a sunken spa tub topped by a mosaic skylight. Two additional guest bedrooms are located in the main house, with another in the private guest cottage that dates back to 1925.

One of just 13 bayfront parcels in the neighborhood, Whispering Pines presides over 125 premium feet of Biscayne Bay frontage, where there’s a 500-square-foot Ipe boat dock plus an additional docking area with an electric boat davit. Other outdoor areas are perfect for taking advantage of the bay views, too: you can relax in the shade under a 140-year-old Indonesian gazebo or have a nap (or even spend the night) in a treehouse outfitted with a lounge bed. Centered around an oval swimming pool, the coral stone deck includes a custom-built wet bar and a decked-out summer kitchen for entertaining.

Wallack debuted Mango’s Tropical Café in 1991, and the South Beach restaurant/nightclub now has a secondary location in Orlando. The Sunshine State entrepreneur listed his 14-acre Redland spread earlier this year for $19 million.
