WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Like any coffee shop, Snick’s Cat Cafe was busy Saturday morning with the background noise of machines operating as busy workers prepared orders for customers. It was also busy with some bypassing their morning cup and making a beeline over to the felines. "I don't know there's something about them where they're just always very happy to see you when you get home, they can always sense if you're sad or in kind of a mood," said Kendra Barger who booked her 50-minute session to visit with the cats. The concept is one part coffee shop, another part boutique and then the lounge. Owners Noah Souza and Julia Hardenburger named the cafe after Snicker who once belonged to Souza. For almost an hour, people come and hang out with the 12 cats in the lounge. "You can see all of the different personalities and you know if you fall in love with one specific cat, then we can talk about adopting and fill out an application," said Hardenburger. Some of these personalities come from the names given by their fosters. "We've got Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue so we've got our rock star cats," said Becca Hardenburger as she added the names come from many of the Fosters who might use a theme or where the cat was found to name them. All twelve cats come from the organization Wichita Animal Action League (WAAL) which both Souza and Hardenburger work closely with. Hardenburger said there are many benefits to owning a pet like a cat that many people may not know. She said studies have shown that it can lower blood pressure. When visiting the cafe, you only need a booking for the cat lounge but you can come anytime to enjoy a cup of coffee.
