Ever wanted to cuddle a baby goat? At Caromont Farm, you can!

By now, we've all heard of different spaces designed for cuddling cute animals, such as cat cafes and puppy play places. But what if you could go somewhere and cuddle a baby goat? Well, at Caromont Farm just outside of Charlottesville, VA, you can do that and more. Caromont Farm has been producing artisan cheese since 2007. They use goat's milk procured from their own herd, as well as cow's milk from a local dairy farm. However, Caromont's reputation expanded when in 2016, they made a request via social media for volunteers who would be willing to come to the farm and cuddle their newborn goats throughout the cold winter months. The response was overwhelming, and the Washington Post even wrote an article about it. Now, for every Saturday in March and every Sunday in April, visitors are invited to an "Open House & Snuggle Session" at Caromont. The farm will be open between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on these days for anyone wanting to partake in this unique experience. These sessions are ticketed, at $10 a person for entry to the farm (children under the age of 4 are free), and you must reserve your spot ahead of time. The farm owners also ask that you try and carpool if possible, as there is limited space for parking. While you're at the farm, inquire about some of the other events Caromont has to offer. Interested in learning how to make cheese? Check out the "Introduction to Hard Cheeses and Affinage" workshop on April 21, or the "Essentials of Cheesemaking" class being held on May 12. The farm also offers culinary workshops, farm dinners, and of course, high-quality artisan cheese for purchase.
