Don’t sit at your terminal like a bored fool. Now you can escape the humdrum airport with DIA Virtual Reality
Pass your time waiting for your plain to arrive by chillin' with LeBron, or riding a roller coaster, or rock climbing … the options are endless with DIA Virtual Reality. Now, it’s not technically DIA’s, but at the new Facebook VR demo store you can do all this and more while waiting for your flight.Located at Concourse A, you can test out the Samsung Gear VR Powered by Oculus through January 24th. The demo is a two-and-a-half minute series of 360 video vignettes. You can venture through space, take a relaxing boat ride, or get close up with a scarily realistic dinosaur, all a few steps from your gate. DIA’s virtual reality simulation, aka the Samsung Gear VR, requires users to wear blackout goggles that display 360-degree videos with headphones. This effect causes users to be completely immersed in a virtual world. As they move their head and explore their “surroundings” the virtual reality adapts to their movement. This creates a feel like you’re really in a video. Considering it's holiday travel time you have an opportunity to see what its all about! Check out the Facebook storefront and give VR a try. Demos run from 10 a.m.to 8 p.m. Although, you'll want to make sure you have at least 30 minutes to spare. Even though the demo only lasts 2.5 minutes, the line to try takes about 10, along with the explanatory introduction. You can also have your picture taken with the headset on to brag to your friends!
