Buffalo Bills quarterbacks coach Ronald Curry worked out Maryland prospects prior to the NFL Draft. He liked what he saw from wide receiver Kaden Prather.

The Bills selected Prather with their final pick, No. 240 overall in the seventh round, in the 2025 draft.

"He's a big, straight line, fast guy," Bills general manager Brandon Beane said in a press conference after Buffalo completed its nine picks. "RC spoke very highly of him during that and that made an impression on us."

Beane said Prather could also compete on special teams.

Prather is 6-foot-3 and 204 pounds and had 162 catches for 1,966 yards and 12 touchdowns over four years split between West Virginia and Maryland.

He caught passes from Taulia Tagovailoa, the younger brother of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, at Maryland in 2023.

Prather brings ideal size for outside receiver at 6-foot-3 and 209 pounds with solid speed (4.46-second 40-yard dash). He's more of a linear athlete at this point who needs work in and out of his breaks. His hands are reliable, though, which give him a chance to stick in the NFL.

Prather is a bigger body with good production for the Terrapins. He lacks ideal speed and burst to create separation downfield, but throw the ball up and let him win at the catch point. He has a similar play style, to a lesser degree, to Keon Coleman.

I thought Kaden Prather would go much earlier than this. He’s a huge receiver who runs well for his size. He could end up being a factor for the Bills down the road.
