FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - November is National Adoption Month and November 20 has been declared Adoption Day in Allen County.

Leaders with The Allen County Department of Child Services and Allen Superior Court celebrated the adoptions of around 40 local children.

Organizers say this is a special day to celebrate and honor families who adopt.

21Alive spoke with the Young family, who tell us they’ve adopted six kids this year alone. Three of them were adopted on Adoption Day.

“It’s a very hard road, it’s not easy navigating the system, it’s absolutely worth it, but if it was so easy everybody would do it,” says Christina Young.

The Uhl family also adopted a little girl named Willow. They say it’s been a long time coming.

“We’ve been waiting for it for about six months and knew we wanted to do it for a while, we were able to get it done and complete another part of our family,” says Ryan Uhl.
