HOLBROOK, AZ (AZFamily) — Firefighters often say that fire season is year-round and it appears the season without fire restrictions could be like that soon.

Stage 1 fire restrictions will start on Friday at 8 a.m. across the White Mountains , according to the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management.

That includes state trust land within the Apache and Navajo counties.

That means limited campfires, no smoking outside designated areas, no fireworks and no target shooting.

Officials say several other agencies, including the USFS Apache-Sitgreaves Forests, Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, and select municipalities, will implement similar restrictions.

The new rules on fires are due to lack of rain and snow, drought conditions and warm temperatures.
