ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A former Bernalillo County Sheriff’s deputy has resigned Tuesday following the DWI Deception scandal.
In a press release, BCSO says former Deputy Jeffrey Hammerel has accepted a plea deal and resigned Tuesday.
“The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office holds its deputies to the highest ethical and professional standards. Any violation of the public’s trust will not be tolerated,” said Sheriff Allen. “While this matter is now in the hands of the federal justice system, we remain committed to transparency and accountability.”
This comes as BCSO undersheriff Johann Jareno resigned Monday over the DWI scandal.
BCSO Sheriff John Allen says Jareno was implicated in the DWI scheme involving local law enforcement.
