MINNEAPOLIS -- Former Minnesota Vikings star and NFL MVP Adrian Peterson was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk in Minneapolis early Friday, according to police. Peterson, 40, was seen driving an Audi Q5 at 83 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone, Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Mike Lee said, according to The Minnesota Star Tribune . He was taken to Hennepin County Jail, where his blood alcohol content was measured at 0.14%, nearly twice the legal .08 limit in Minnesota. Peterson was booked at 5:16 a.m. CST on charges of fourth-degree driving while impaired, a misdemeanor, according to arrest records . He posted $4,000 bond and was released at 7:31 a.m. He is due in court May 9 in Minneapolis. Peterson attended the Vikings’ NFL Draft party on Thursday night at the team’s home U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. The Vikings provided former players with transportation to and from the draft party, and Peterson left the party in the team-provided shuttle at 9 p.m., according to The Star Tribune. A 15-year NFL veteran, Peterson played his first 10 seasons with the Vikings from 2007-16. He holds the Vikings’ franchise records for most career rush yards (11,747), touchdowns (97) and rush attempts (2,418). Peterson won the 2007 NFL Rookie of the Year award, was named the 2012 NFL MVP and AP Offensive Player of the Year, earned seven Pro Bowls, four First Team All-Pro honors and three Second Team All-Pro honors during his 10 seasons in Minnesota. Peterson also played for the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks from 2017-21. He ranks fourth in NFL history in career rushing touchdowns (120), fifth in rushing yards (14,918), and sixth in rushing attempts (3,230).
