Alexandria has an opening round bye, host section semifinal on Saturday; Osakis plays at Legacy Christian Academy on Tuesday



ALEXANDRIA — The Alexandria girls basketball team has won the last two Section 8-3A titles and finished the regular season undefeated against section opponents (10-0).

Alexandria (22-4), who is ranked No. 5 in the Class 3A Minnesota Basketball News rankings, has earned the No. 1 seed in the 2025 Section 8-3A Tournament and has an opening round bye.

Alexandria awaits the winner of Thursday’s game between the No. 4 seed Little Falls (12-14) and the No. 5 seed Detroit Lakes (8-18). Little Falls beat Detroit Lakes, 43-34, on Dec. 17, 2024.

Alexandria hosts the winner of the Little Falls/Detroit Lakes game on Saturday, March 1 at a time that is yet to be determined.

On the other side of the bracket, Fergus Falls (19-7) is the No. 2 seed and hosts the St. Cloud Crush (5-20), the No. 7 seed at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Willmar (13-13) is the No. 3 seed and hosts the No. 6 seed ROCORI (5-20) at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

The winner of the Fergus Falls/St. Cloud Crush game and the Willmar/ROCORI game play in a section semifinal on Saturday at a time that is yet to be determined at the high seed.

The Section 8-3A Championship game is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at a neutral site location that is yet to be determined.

Osakis seeded 12th in Section 6-2A



The Osakis Silverstreaks (15-10) are the No. 12 seed in the Section 6-2A Tournament and play at the No. 5 seed Legacy Christian Academy (18-8) at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

The winner of that game faces either the No. 4 seed Annandale (20-6) or the No. 13 seed St. Cloud Cathedral (11-15) at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the College of St. Benedict.

One of these four teams will play the No. 1 seed Sauk Centre (24-2), the No. 8 seed Holdingford (15-11), or the No. 9 seed Foley (14-12) in the Section 6-2A semifinals at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the College of St. Benedict. Sauk Centre faces either Holdingford or Foley at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, at the College of St. Benedict.

On the other side of the bracket, Roylaton (26-0) is the No. 2 seed and hosts the No. 15 seed Mora (7-19) at 7 p.m. on Thursday, while the No. 7 seed Albany (12-14) hosts the No. 10 seed Pine City (14-12), the No. 3 seed Milaca (19-5) hosts the No. 14 seed Melrose (10-16), and the No. 6 seed Spectrum (20-6) hosts the No. 11 seed Kimball (15-11).

The winner of the Royalton/Mora game faces the winner of the Albany/Pine City game at 4:30 p.m. on March 1, at the College of St. Benedict, while the winner of the Milaca/Melrose game and the Spectrum/Kimball game play at 6 p.m. The two semifinalists from this side of the bracket play at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, at the College of St. Benedict.

The Section 6-2A Championship game is set for 6 p.m. on Friday, March 7, at St. Cloud State University.
