PHOENIX – Popular local artisan ice cream shop Sweet Republic opened its fourth location in Old Town Scottsdale last week.

To celebrate, the new store at 3712 N. Scottsdale Road will offer every customer a free scoop from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.

The other three shops — another in Scottsdale and one each in Phoenix and Tempe — aren’t participating in the giveaway.

What kind of ice cream does Sweet Republic make?



Sweet Republic has been crafting cold treats in the Valley since 2008, developing a devoted following for its mouthwatering array of classic and creative flavors .

A few years ago, Sweet Republic was rated as one of the 40 best ice cream shops in the nation by Thrillist.

The shops offer gluten- and dairy-free options as well as seasonal varieties that are only available for a limited time. The current seasonal list includes dill pickle, Irish cream and brown bread.

The ice cream is available in cones, pints, sundaes and other forms and can be ordered online for pickup or delivery.

All four shops are open from noon to 10 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays and noon to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
