A guide to Colorado fireworks and COVID-19 guidelines for December 31.
So far, COVID-19 has changed our usual celebrations for the Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and several other holidays we know and love. New Year's Eve is shaping up to be in the same situation. Cities across Colorado are releasing plans and COVID-19 guidelines to ring in the new year.
Cities across Colorado canceled firework celebrations for the Fourth of July, so can we expect the same to come? Here's what Coloradans can expect for December 31:
Canceled Events
Several New Year's Eve celebrations have already been canceled. Here are the cities and regions that won't be holding events:
- Copper Mountain: No celebrations
- Denver: No fireworks
- Fort Collins: No First Night event
- Loveland: No fireworks
- Monarch Mountain: No event
- Westminster: No celebration or fireworks
Tentative Events
While several places have canceled fireworks and traditional celebrations, there's still hope. These are the places still considering and planning fireworks or events, at the time of this writing:
- Aspen: Fireworks at 8 p.m. and Midnight
- Evergreen: Fireworks at the lake planned; date TBD. The city is also planning a month-long event with holiday activities and entertainment.
- Glenwood Springs: Fireworks at 10 p.m. on 12/31; masks and physical distancing required
- Salida: The City of Salida and Salida Business Alliance plan to still hold their town event; date TBD
Keep in mind that these events are subject to change. Check with official city websites to verify events.
