Cooling centers, shelters, food, water and other resources remain available to Houston-area residents who continue to cope with the impacts of Hurricane Beryl. More than 250,000 homes and businesses remained without electricity as of midday Monday – a week after the storm hit the region and caused multiple deaths as well as widespread flooding and power outages. Resources are available all across the region, including in Houston and Harris County, Fort Bend County, Galveston County and Montgomery County. Below is a list of places where impacted residents can escape the summer heat and seek refuge, drop off storm debris or receive free food and water. There also is information about disaster recovery centers operated by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which are reopening Monday after being closed last week because of the storm.
