Walk, run, or volunteer at one of the country's best Thanksgiving events.
With more than 10,000 participants each year, Denver's Turkey Trot is a popular way to give back on Thanksgiving morning. Forbes Travel Guide called it one of the best Thanksgiving events in the country, and Runners World Magazine noted the draw of the beautiful Washington Park scenery and the free beer garden waiting for participants at the end of the trot.
Getting involved in Denver's Turkey Trot is a unique way to support a great cause. Mile High United Way is dedicated to ensuring that children receive quality education and families are given opportunities to become self-sufficient. The nonprofit helped 1 in 10 in Metro Denver last year. Mile High United Way believes that "everyone in our community should have the opportunity to succeed, even if the odds are stacked against them."
Kick off your Thanksgiving morning with a dose of good karma at Denver's 45th annual Turkey Trot. Here's how you can get involved:
Walk or Run
You can choose to either walk or run the four-mile course, and register as either an individual or a team. The first 9,500 runners will also receive a t-shirt. Enjoy Start and Finish Villages with countless goodies, including a free beer garden from Great Divide Brewing Co.
Here's the schedule:
- 8:00 a.m. - Registration and corrals open
- 10:00 a.m. - Opening ceremonies
- 10:15 a.m. - First Corral start (each additional corral will start approximately every two minutes)
- 10:45 a.m. - Family Fun Run start

Volunteer
If you're not up for a four-mile run but don't mind being on your feet, you can elect to volunteer at the event. There are 96 remaining positions, and you can register here. You can even get the whole family involved.
