Big Ten powers collide Sunday afternoon in East Lansing, as the 12th-ranked Michigan State Spartans play host to the No. 19 Illinois Fighting Illini . The Spartans are slight 3.5-point favorites as they look to stay unbeaten in Big Ten play (6-0) with their seventh straight win. Michigan State is on a 10-game winning streak, its longest since 2019, but plays its first ranked opponent since that run began with a 94-91 over then-No. 14 North Carolina. Last time out, Sparty handled visiting Penn State (90-85) behind a strong performance by its bench, which scored 45 of the team’s 90 points. Illinois has delivered three straight strong road performances in wins over No. 9 Oregon (109-77), Washington (81-77), and most recently a dominant performance against Indiana (94-69). The Illini scored 60 points in the first half and cruised to a bounceback win after falling to USC on their home floor (82-72) last Saturday night.
