The reigning NBA champion Boston Celtics return to TD Garden Friday night still looking for consistent traction as they get set to host the Orlando Magic . The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. ET with TV coverage on ESPN and streaming on-demand .

Since starting the season with a 16-3 record through 19 games, the Celtics have mostly spun their wheels in winning 12 of their past 21 games. That up-and-down stretch includes blowout losses to the Sacramento Kings (114-97) and Toronto Raptors (110-97) over the course of Boston’s past three contests. The Celtics get a chance to briefly catch their breath with back-to-backs at home against Orlando and the Atlanta Hawks on Friday and Saturday before heading West for a four-game road trip.

Ups and downs have also been themes for a talented Magic team that went on a November surge to improve its season record to 15-7, but hasn’t won back-to-back games since defeating the Celtics on Dec. 28. Orlando has lost three of its past four, most recently suffering a 122-93 blowout on the road to Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.
