LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- For the first time in program history, Indiana University football has won 10 games in a single season.

The Hoosiers got past Michigan, 20-15, at Memorial Stadium Saturday despite only 18 yards of total offense in the second half.

"We found a way to get it done," IU coach Curt Cignetti said. "Tells you a lot about the resiliency of this team, it's competitive character. At the end of the day, they all count as one (win)."

IU quarterback Kurtis Rourke finished 17-28 for 208 yards and two touchdowns with an interception. It seemed like in the first half that IU was on the way to another blowout but the Hoosiers' defense came up with stops when it needed to secure the win.

For the second straight game IU got behind in the first quarter.

Michigan got out to a 3-0 lead after marching down the field but a fumble backed them up from the red zone for a long field goal.

But the Hoosiers followed it up with 17 straight points to end the first half. Kurtis Rourke found Omar Cooper Jr. on a back shoulder fade to score the first touchdown of the day.

In the second quarter, Rourke had pressure up the middle but threw it up to Elijah Sarratt for a 36-yard score to put IU up by double digits.

Michigan went 66 yards on the first drive but IU held the Wolverines to just 48 total yards on its final four drives of the half.

Heading into halftime, IU held a 228 to 94 total yards advantage.

In the third quarter, IU couldn't get anything going. The offense had lost its rhythm and Michigan pulled within two points in the fourth quarter.

With less than three minutes left, Sarratt had an opportunity to put IU within a few yards of the end zone but the ball came out as he landed from making the catch. It resulted in IU settling for a field goal to go up five with 2:34 left.

On fourth and 10 with 1:41 left in the game, Michigan had a chance to convert to keep the ball but a diving effort went just a yard short.

In the last three years IU won a combined nine games.

The Hoosiers have now won 10 games already and their undefeated season continues.

"I can't say enough about these guys," Cignetti said. "I don't throw a lot of bouquets out there, O think we all know that. But they've accomplished quite a bit."
