ST. LOUIS — A Jennings man was sentenced Monday to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a man on the St. Louis riverfront in September 2022.George D. Gholston, 33, also pleaded guilty to unlawful gun possession as part of a plea agreement worked out with prosecutors, according to a news release from the St. Louis Circuit Court.Prosecutors said the victim, Nicholas A. Taylor, 30, had been involved in a brief confrontation with Gholston and others before the shooting and that Gholston shot Taylor as Taylor walked away.The two were acquaintances who had arrived in the same vehicle at the scene, 48 North Leonor K. Sullivan Boulevard, near the Gateway Arch. St. Louis Circuit Judge Paula Bryant accepted the plea agreement.
