In a case that garnered national attention , a jury in Teton County, Idaho, unanimously found Benjamin Qureshi guilty of two misdemeanors: obstructing a law enforcement officer and driving without a valid license. The March obstruction case raised questions about what constitutes reasonable suspicion and what is needed to detain someone. The incident spurred the creation of the Facebook group East Idaho Cop Watch, dedicated to “transparency” in law enforcement, and launched hundreds of thousands views of the deputy’s body camera footage on social media. A still from a video shows Teton County, Idaho, Sheriff’s Cpl. Ashley Hayes questioning a couple’s extended stop at a nearby gas station. Hayes requested a canine to sniff for drugs but found none. The two people questioned said they were scratching lottery tickets.
