On Wednesday, Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks added a new name in the Class of 2026 with the commitment of three-star defensive lineman Draeden Punt .

Punt, a 6-foot-7 athlete from Orange City, Iowa, committed to the Jayhawks over offers from Kansas State, South Dakota, and Lindenwood.

“Kansas was the place for me because it truly felt like home,” Punt told 247Sports’ Michael Swain . “They have an amazing coaching staff along with great facilities and academic support. Kansas had great facilities and coaches that made you feel welcome. Lawrence is also a great town with some really good people. KU fans can expect a really hard-working guy who’s bought into bettering the team and winning games. Rock Chalk.”

Coming out of Moc-Floyd High School in the Class of 2026, Punt is listed as a three-star prospect by the 247Sports index . He also checks in as the 58th-ranked player at his position and the fifth-ranked player in the state of Iowa.

With the commitment, the Jayhawks have now added a total of 12 different prospects in the Class of 2026. While it’s still early in the recruiting cycle for the rest of the league, Kansas sits atop the Big 12 rankings with the league’s best class and the No. 10 class in the nation.
