MLB picks and predictions for the best bets. The Dodgers opened their road series Friday with a 7-5 victory against the New York Mets, but they followed that up with 2 straight losses. On Sunday, the Dodgers suffered a 3-1 loss as short 'dogs (+105) as the Under (8.5) cashed. Leadoff hitter and DH
Shohei Ohtani opened the game with a solo HR, but the Mets scored 2 runs in the bottom of the first, and L.A. never was able to recover. It also didn't help that the Dodgers committed 4 errors. The Guardians won 3 of 4 games over the weekend in Detroit, but the Tigers blanked them 5-0 Sunday behind LHP
Tarik Skubal . Cleveland was able to manage just 2 hits, with DH
Jose Ramirez going 1-for-3, while 3B
Will Wilson had the team's only extra-base hit with a double in 3 at-bats.
Dodgers at Guardians projected starters

Dodgers at Guardians picks and predictions
Prediction
The
DODGERS (-185) are a strong play on the road against the Guardians, albeit a bit on the pricey side. However, Yamamoto has been a machine, rebounding nicely with 2 straight quality starts since a rare ugly outing in Arizona on May 8. A matchup of Yamamoto against Williams points in L.A.'s favor 9 times out of 10. The Japanese import paints the strike zone and rarely allows homers. Plus, Cleveland is coming off a shutout loss in Detroit against another All-Star caliber pitcher.
If you're a bit more adventurous, take
DODGERS -1.5 (-110) at nearly even-money. The Dodgers are 7-3 in Yamamoto's 10 starts this season, and they've won 5 of those games by 2 or more runs. In the 7 starts they've won with Yamamoto on the hill, the margin of victory is 2.8 runs per game. If you like L.A. to win, you should like it to cover the run line, too.
UNDER 8 (-115) is the lean, but roll with a
half-unit play at most. We're banking on Yamamoto to continue putting up plenty of donuts. In addition, Williams has been fairly effective at home, posting a 3.47 ERA with just 3 HR allowed in 23 1/3 IP. Runs could be at a premium in this interleague series opener.
