Lady Gaga's French bulldogs may be in more demand than the Lady herself.
In the latest on Lady Gaga's ongoing dog-napping story, five people have been arrested for allegedly stealing two of her Frech bulldogs: Koji and Gustav and shooting Ryan Fisher, her dog walker, while walking them in February. Lady Gaga offered a $500,000 reward for the safe return of her dogs; no word on a reward to find the shooter of her dog walker.
According to the press release, James Jackson (18), Jaylin White (19), and Lafayette Whaley (27) have each been charged "with one count each of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit robbery and second-degree robbery." Jackson faces "one count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and a felon carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. White faces one count of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury." Harold White (40 and White's father), is charged with accessory and one count of possession of a firearm. Jennifer McBride (50) returned Gaga's dogs to the LAPD. It was later determined by detectives that McBride had a relationship with Harold White, and she has been charged as well.
Although the dogs' owner is extremely high-profile, People added from the release, "Detectives do not believe the suspects were targeting the victim because of the dogs' owner. [But] evidence suggests the suspects knew the great value of the breed of dogs and was the motivation for the robbery."
According to New York Post, French bulldogs are in high demand on the black market, fetching anywhere from $1,500 to $5,000. The recent celebrity status of the breed has driven the demand on the black market, and their small size makes them easy to steal.
All five suspects pleaded not guilty and are ordered to return to court on May 11.
As for Gaga's dog walker, Ryan Fischer. He's recovering and looking forward to seeing Koji and Gustav soon.
