What started as a disturbance call led to an investigation and seizure of drugs and guns, according to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office.

The Alexandria Police Department went to a home in the 3100 block of Dawkins Street, which is off Maryland Avenue, Feb. 26 for a report about a disturbance, reads a news release.

Officers were inside the home when they "observed multiple clear glass jars containing what they suspected to be marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms," it reads.

The officers contacted the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement Unit, whose agents responded to begin their own investigation. The 44-year-old resident allegedly admitted that he had drugs and guns inside the home and gave consent for a search, it reads.

The search uncovered about 2.5 pounds of marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms, eight firearms and 28 bags of THC edibles.

"One of the firearms was found to have had an illegal length barrel, so an RPSO deputy assigned to the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Task Force was notified and will conduct a further investigation specific to that weapon," reads the release.

The resident was arrested and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center #1 on charges of possession of marijuana and THC edibles with intent to distribute, possession of hallucinogenic plants with intent to distribute, illegal carrying of firearms with drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He later was released after posting a $13,000 bond.
