FORT WORTH, Texas — Penny Hardaway and Memphis basketball made it six straight wins Friday.

The 17th-ranked Tigers (27-5) advanced to the AAC tournament semifinals by beating Wichita State 83-80 at Dickies Arena. The victory is also Memphis' 14th in its last 15 games. PJ Haggerty scored a career-high 42 points, which also tied an AAC tournament record.

Now, the Tigers turn their attention toward Friday night's Tulane-FAU game. Whoever wins that game will meet up with Memphis Saturday (2 p.m., ESPN2) with a spot in the tournament championship on the line.

But, let's look a little further ahead than that. Let's weigh in on what the Tigers' present March Madness stock looks like and how we see things playing out on Selection Sunday.

Memphis basketball March Madness prediction

As Hardaway's team has strung together several substantial winning streaks since AAC play began, its NCAA tournament seeding outlook has gradually waned.

ESPN's Joe Lunardi is one of the more high-profile bracketologists who has moved the Tigers back to an 8-seed in recent days. Some others have followed suit, but there are still projectionists keeping Memphis in the 6- or 7-seed range.

Prediction: The Tigers haven't gotten much help from other teams floating around them in the seeding landscape in recent days. Memphis probably needs another win (possibly two) to get a 6-seed. The thought here is it will get them both and go into the Big Dance as a 6.
