CINCINNATI (WXIX) - A national and state-renowned business known for its barbecue on wheels, is opening its first restaurant in Avondale. Whether it’s a slab of ribs or a pulled pork sandwich, Cincinnatians - and even travelers - will get to sit down and enjoy a meal inside the first Sweets & Meats restaurant come Sept. 12. “We have been working on this project for a year, but spoke it into existence over a decade ago. We are so proud to unveil our new dine-in restaurant and cannot wait to serve each of you! This is really special,” co-founders Kristen Bailey and Anton Gaffney wrote on Facebook. The two founded the business in 2014, planting Sweets & Meats’ roots underneath a tent in the parking lot of Mt. Washington’s famous Creamy Whip. Two years later, the barbecue joint grew and began traveling around the Tri-State in its food trailer. Mobilizing Sweets & Meats became a huge success and soon, the co-founders expanded their business. Bailey and Gaffney added a few more food trucks to their load and even opened up a brick-and-mortar for catering purposes. Now, they are finishing up the last few touches of their new restaurant. Sweets & Meats is located at 3440 Burnet Ave. inside the Herald Building near Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Hours of operation are Wednesday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. See a spelling or grammar error in our story? Please click here to report it . Do you have a photo or video of a breaking news story?
