Immerse yourself in a galaxy far, far away with the Denver Art Museum’s Star Wars™ Exhibit; Star Wars ™ and the Power of Costume.

Through April 2, 2017 you can visit the Denver Art Museum and take the out-of-this-world journey through the universe. The characters several generations know and love have been brought to life through this dramatic Star Wars™ exhibit. You’ll kick yourself if you miss Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume. Over 70 original costumes from the film are on display for you to relive the films and the characters we all love. The Star Wars exhibit will examine the captivating process of costume design from iconic outfits in all seven films. Personally, I’m most excited to check out the lavish and detailed gowns of Queen Amidala. But the main attraction of the Star Wars™ exhibit, would have to be Darth Vader’s ominous black armor. [gallery size="large" columns="2" ids="7148,7147,7146,7145,7144"] The exhibit will include several videos of the designers and actors, talking through the processes and experiences with the costumes. Additionally, you can watch clips and see the scenes including the costumes. This Star Wars™ exhibit talks through the cultural and historic inspirations for the costumes, as told by Smithsonian scholars. If you’re looking for an exhibit that goes in depth into the literary aspect of the Star Wars™ series, I would double check the purpose behind the exhibit. According to The Denver Art Museum:

This exhibition goes beyond the chronological, literary, or filmic order often used to chronicle Star Wars. It focuses instead on the creative process, encompassing the essence of George Lucas’ vision and the exciting challenge of translating his iconic characters into a dynamic reality.”

If you’re looking forward to visiting this Star Wars™ exhibit as much as I am, but can’t make it ASAP -- Hold yourself over by checking out this local photographer, Kaitlyn Shriver, who recently held a Star Wars™ themed photo shoot at the Sand Dunes!
