Queens, NY – Darnell King, 39, is facing criminal charges, including possession of a weapon and making terroristic threats, after allegedly threatening a mass shooting at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Charges were filed after a video was sent to his estranged wife showing a gun and implying an attack.

District Attorney Melinda Katz praised the work of the Port Authority Police Department and the NYPD for swiftly detaining King, who had arrived at the airport armed and expressing intent to cause harm.

Port Authority Chief Security Officer Greg Ehrie commended the collaboration and vigilance among law enforcement that prevented a potentially dangerous situation. NYPD Commissioner Edward A. Caban reiterated the seriousness of illegal firearms and praised the joint efforts that thwarted a tragedy.
