CARTERET, NJ —Former teacher Jeffrey Munguia, 32, of North Bergen, has been charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Dennis McFadden of the Carteret Police Department disclosed these charges following an investigation that began on Tuesday.

The investigation by Detective Daniela Castro of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Sergeant Meghan McFadden of the Carteret Police Department revealed that the alleged incidents occurred in 2022 at Carteret Middle School, where Munguia was teaching at the time. He was arrested on the same day the charges were filed, without incident.

Authorities have called for anyone with further information to contact Detective Castro at the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit at 732-745-3652 or Sergeant McFadden at the Carteret Police Department at 732-541-4181. It is emphasized that the charges against Munguia are accusations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
