The Miami Dolphin's defense has a lot of holes they are going to have to address in the draft, such as cornerback, safety, and defensive line. If they want to have a chance at contending this upcoming season, they have to nail their first-round draft pick and make sure they fill one of these needs while also getting an extremely talented player. In Lance Zierlein's latest mock draft for NFL.com, he has the Dolphins doing exactly that.

Zierlein has the Dolphins drafting Kenneth Grant with their first-round pick, he is a an extremely skilled and talented defensive tackle that has started the last two seasons for Michigan. In his two seasons starting with the Wolverines, Grant had 61 tackles, nine pass deflections, six and a half sacks, three fumble recoveries, and one interception.

Grant is an absolute unit listed at 6'4 331 pounds. He is a really strong defensive tackle who can shed double teams and wreak havoc in the run and pass game. Grant had at least three sacks in both of his seasons starting which is impressive for an interior lineman, the fact that he was able to create great pass rush from his position shows that he could be a problem in the NFL.

Playing at Michigan, Grant went up against plenty of NFL talent and has proven that he can hang with anyone. Grant had some of the best games of his career against Ohio State , Indiana, Washington, and Oregon which were all loaded with NFL talent.

The Dolphins need some help on their defensive line, especially with their interior tackles. They have Benito Jones slated to start right now who had a solid season last year, but he was nothing special and they are going to want a new starter if they really want to compete or at least some depth.

The Dolphins were 27th in the league in sacks, only recording 35 sacks last year, which was 21 fewer than their 56 from the year before. To get back to having an elite defensive line they need to be able to get pressure, and bringing in a player that has proven success as a pass rusher from the defensive tackle spot is a great way to start.

Grant has the potential to be one of the most dangerous defensive tackles in the game if he can just be a little more consistent. He has the tools, the skill, and the size to be an elite defensive tackle; he just needs the coaching and guidance to get there. The Dolphins need to upgrade their defensive line after their atrocious performance last year, and a great way to start getting that done is by drafting Grant.

The Dolphins should seriously consider drafting Grant and possibly even drafting another defensive lineman to pair up with him later as well. The Dolphins could be looking at a new, hungrier, and younger defensive line. That might be exactly what they need to get back to the playoffs this upcoming season.
