Throughout the 2025 NFL draft, The Baltimore Sun is tracking players from local colleges and those with ties to Maryland who are selected.
This article will be updated. Maryland wide receiver Tai Felton, Minnesota Vikings, No. 102 overall
Felton’s senior season, in which he posted 1,124 yards and nine touchdowns to slingshot into an elite category of Terps wideouts, also put him on NFL teams’ radars. He’s the highest drafted Maryland player this year after the Vikings made him the No. 102nd overall pick Friday night, the final selection of the third round to conclude Day 2. Felton’s 96 catches this season were a Maryland record and best in the Big Ten. And that breakout season came even as the Terps’ quarterback play declined. “Most people know that the system that we’ve run here, receivers have been pretty successful in this system,” Maryland coach Michael Locksley said at the team’s pro day last month. “DJ Moore, Stefon Diggs, as well as a host of other guys. I see Tai sitting right in the same mold as those guys.” With Minnesota, Felton joins a wide receiver room headlined by All-Pro Justin Jefferson and former first-round pick and Frederick native Jordan Addison.
Penn State safety Kevin Winston Jr., Tennessee Titans, No. 82 overall
Winston, a Columbia native who played in college at Penn State, became the first local player taken in this year’s draft in the third round. The safety graduated from DeMatha Catholic, where he was named All-Met Defensive Player of the Year by The Washington Post. Winston posted 90 tackles and one interception over his three seasons with the Nittany Lions but was derailed by a partial ACL tear as a junior. He missed that season and played just three games as a senior.
