Outlander heartthrob Sam Heughan has sent fans into a frenzy after sharing snaps and a video from a surprise pop-up book signing event. The 44 year old Scottish actor took to Instagram to share his joyous encounter with Outlander series author Diana Gabaldon at the Poisoned Pen bookstore in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The pair were there to sign copies of their books, with the bookstore's Instagram account capturing the moment they posed alongside a Jamie Fraser cardboard cutout. The caption alongside the image stated: "A fun pop up yesterday at The Poisoned Pen. Sam signed some of his books...

"Diana signs all of hers for us. Some customers enjoyed the moment along with staff."

It continued, "Cardboard Jamie...also cardboard Claire ... Have been a part of our bookstore for years and years and now Jamie is autographed."

In another delightful snap, fans could see Sam autographing the cardboard version of his character, with the caption: "And here is real Sam signing cardboard Sam yesterday. Cardboard Jamie and Claire have been store fixtures forever. What a fun moment... Think Lisa Scottoline and Flat Bradley...."
