ALEXANDRIA — A protest decrying President Trump's policies regarding veterans was held in Alexandria Friday, March 14.

The group lined almost an entire side of a city block.

The group started at the north end of Broadway by the Armory building before it started south, eventually reaching Veterans Memorial Park.

In addition to the signs criticizing the president and his policies, some protesters carried signs criticizing Elon Musk.

The protest was organized by Alexandria Area Indivisible. The group issued a news release, which read, "We are marching on Broadway today in solidarity with each other and our presence here is both personal and public. We want to see our veterans supported, provided for and shown the respect they deserve in our community, our state and our country. Limiting their access to health care, benefits and support is against what our community wants, and we demand that the actions against them stop."

The news release continued, "It is difficult to reconcile the beautiful Veteran's Memorial (Park) here on Broadway in Alexandria that contains the names of our families' soldiers with the callous cuts and reductions directed at our veterans. Please join us in saying 'no' to those who are actively promoting these supposed cost-saving measures. Shame on those who feel these are actions that are best for our country."
