8am Update :Rainfall amounts for the 24 hours ending at 7am range from over 2″ in southeast Kansas to just 0.01″ in Dodge City. Kingman and Cheney picked up about 0.50″, while Wichita received 0.37″ Light rain continues across the area this morning tapering to showers later this afternoon. Severe storms are not expected across Kansas, however Missouri and Arkansas could see severe storms and even a few tornadoes later this afternoon. 4am Weather Update : The final wave of heavier rain and thunderstorm activity will move through southwest, central, and eastern Kansas this morning with activity lingering through mid afternoon. The storm system will lift northeast across the state throughout the day, and rain will begin to end by late afternoon and into the evening. Rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches are expected across south central and southeast Kansas with southwest and north central Kansas getting less than 1 inch. Under cloudy skies and periods of rain, It will be cool again today with highs in the mid 50s over eastern Kansas with low to mid 60s over western Kansas where some sunshine is possible during the afternoon. Warmer weather will return for the week ahead with highs returning to the 70s. More thunderstorms will be possible from Tuesday through Thursday. Monday night: Mostly clear to partly cloudy.
