Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary is hosting a 5K race to raise funds for the care of 200+ rescued animals. Join the Run for Animals on May 20 to exercise for a good cause!
Whether you're a seasoned runner or a couch potato, you can probably agree that animals are amazing. The Run for Animals is a great chance for you to get active on behalf of rescued animals. The event will have both a 5K race and 1-mile fun walk, so all activity levels are invited! This will be Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary's 15th year hosting the race. According to the sanctuary, "All funds raised will go towards the life-saving work Poplar Spring does every day. The funds will care and feed the farm animals that live at Poplar Spring, as well as educate the public about compassion towards all animals."
Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary is a 429-acre farm sanctuary in Poolesville, Maryland, that is devoted to providing permanent homes for farm animals and wildlife that were abused, neglected, or injured. The sanctuary began in 1996 and now is the home to over 200 animals including Irwin the pig, Franny the sheep, and Edward the peacock. Husband and wife Terry Cummings and Dave Hoerauf currently run the sanctuary and are the original founders.
