Shake Shack has a strong Korean contender in the 'chicken wars.'
Just when you thought we'd reached the apex of the fast-food 'chicken sandwich wars' (looking at you, McDonald's and Popeyes), Shake Shack takes things up a notch with-you guessed it-a new chicken sandwich!
On Tuesday, the burger chain announced the arrival of its Korean-inspired menu. The lineup features the Korean-Style Fried Chick'n Sandwich, the Gochujang Chick'n Bites and fries, and the Black Sugar Vanilla Shake. All three are available for a limited time.
Considering the vast popularity of their classic Chick'n Shack sandwich, it was only a matter of time before this flavorful twist was unleashed on the public. But it's not the first time they've experimented with Korean cuisine-they originally launched the Korean chicken sandwich in Seoul, where it was so popular they decided to bring it to the states. And for that, we are forever grateful!
The menu features gochujang, a fermented chili paste consisting of red chili peppers, soy, and sticky rice. With its unique blend of savory and sweet flavors, it's no wonder the sauce is a staple in Korean cooking!

Our take on Korean-Style Fried Chick’n was such a hit at our Shacks in South Korea, we had to bring it to the US!

There's the Korean-Style Fried Chick'n Sandwich that comes with a fried chicken patty coated in Gochujang sauce and topped with kimchi slaw and sesame seeds. For the slaw, the chain utilizes white kimchi from the Portland business Choi's Kimchi Co.
There's also the Gochujang Chick'n Bites, which features the chain's signature chicken nuggets with a Gochujang mayo sauce. You can even order them with fries, or enjoy the fries on their own with the spicy sauce for dipping.
Of course, no Shake Shack meal is complete without one of their delicious shakes, and their newest is the Black Sugar Vanilla Shake. It's a creamy combination of smoky black sugar and vanilla custard, which makes it the perfect palate cleanser!
If these are making your mouth water, you're not alone! The limited-run menu is available at all U.S. locations and can be ordered online or through Shake Shack's exclusive app.
Chick-fil-A, Burger King, McDonald's-it's your move!
