STEM School in Highlands Ranch was under lockdown after shots were fired on Tuesday afternoon.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Department has reported that one student has died following a shooting at a school in Highlands Ranch. The student has been identified as 18-year-old Kendrick Castillo.
It is with extreme sadness that we can confirm that 1 student at the STEM School was killed in today’s #stemshooting incident. The immediate family has been notified. Douglas County Coroner Jill Romann has not officially identified the student is stating it’s an 18 year old male.

Two suspects are in custody, and according to the sheriff's office, one is an adult male and the other a juvenile female. Suspects have been confirmed as students of STEM.

The STEM School educates 1,800 students in K-12 and is located off South Ridgeline Road and Plaza Drive.
