A cold weather advisory is in effect for a wide swath of central Illinois until Tuesday afternoon means area schools are closing or going to e-learning.

Tuesday's high temperature, according to the National Weather Service in Lincoln , is predicted to be 7 degrees with wind chill values as low as 25-below.

Frostbite and hypothermia could occur if skin is unprotected.

The cold weather advisory is in effect until 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Daytime high temperatures return to freezing or just below freezing beginning Wednesday for the rest of the week.
